Your child's home away from home since 1950
For over 75 years, Arlington Kindergarten has been where Jacksonville families begin their children's educational journey. We're not just a school — we're part of the community.
For over 65 years, Arlington Kindergarten has been a trusted part of the Jacksonville community — a place where generations of families have grown up and come back again. We're more than a daycare. We're a school built on structure, care, and connection.
Our approach is simple and intentional: no screens, strong routines, and meaningful interaction. We focus on building character, confidence, and a genuine love of learning from the very beginning.
With experienced teachers — many who have been here for decades — small class sizes, and a warm, consistent environment, children are known, supported, and challenged in the right ways. From daily learning to class performances and shared milestones, everything we do is designed to help your child feel at home while preparing them for what's next.

Why families choose us — and stay
Every child is known by name
In a big city, it's easy to feel like a number. Here, Shelia and your child's teacher will know your family personally — your child's name, their quirks, what makes them tick. That's not a selling point. It's just how we operate.
Teachers who genuinely stay
High turnover is the norm in early childhood care. Here it's the exception. Many of our teachers have been with us for over a decade. Your child builds real, lasting relationships with adults they trust — and so do you.
Every family is welcome here
We serve families from all across Jacksonville — different backgrounds, different situations. If you have questions about cost, VPK eligibility, or what to expect, just call us. Shelia will talk it through with you. No judgment, no sales pitch.

Shelia Vigal
Director · With Arlington since 1981
Shelia has led Arlington Kindergarten as director for the past ten years. She's watched children grow up and come back as parents. Some of the families she knows go back three generations. When you visit, you'll meet her in person. That's just how we do things here.
